Michael Chiu, Ph.D.

Dr. Michael Chiu is our Senior Mechanical Consultant in Specialty Engineering at KnightHawk Engineering. Before joining the team, he gained hands-on experience in the oil-gas industry, mainly responsible for material development for elastomer seal/cutting element in rotating equipment, developing numerical models for design validation/improvement for down-hole tool, as well as down-hole hydraulic evaluation and optimization. Michael specializes in multi-functional modeling for Finite Element Analysis (F.E.A) and Computational Fluid Dynamic (C.F.D), including heat transfer, linear/non-linear model, vibration/transient/dynamic modeling, and 2-WAY FSI (Fluid Structure Interaction) modeling. Michael performs new design assessment, failure assessment, and fit-for-service analysis to provide solutions to our clients’ most complex problems. He received his Ph.D certification in Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University in 2012.
